"We've Come So Far" - Studio Track is out now!

This song “We’ve Come So Far” is a song that I wrote in the pandemic. In the summer of 2020 I moved from NYC to LA and one of my first sessions (while masked up) was at my friend Austin Brown’s house. He opened a folder of beats and this one just stuck out to me. I remember loving the dryness of the guitar and the simplicity of the harmony. It had a familiarity and nostalgic quality to it that made me want to reflect on where I was in life, how I’m feeling about the state of the world and where things are going. Interestingly enough even 5 years later the lyrics and energy of this song is just as relevant now as it was then. Because the truth is, there will always be difficult times, injustice, violence, sadness and pain in the world. But simultaneously there will be love, family, joy, music and moments of peace as well. It ultimately comes down to what we are able to focus our minds on. I chose to write a song about my desire to focus on the positive and to remember that things will be “alright.” This song is about taking stock on how far I’ve come in life and the blessings in my life despite the difficulties and trials that I have to face. Gratitude is the key. “We’ve Come So Far” is a call to action. A call to center oneself and focus on what we are grateful for in life. I urge everyone reading this to do the same.

NPR Tiny Desk Video

You may have seen me behind the NPR Tiny Desk performing behind several artists such as Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, Tom Misch, Phony Ppl, Amaarae and my own Tiny Desk at Home Concert during the pandemic. But this past year I was fortunate to get the opportunity to bring my band to Tiny Desk!!!! We taped our set on Halloween October 31, 2024 right between my Asia Tour and European Tour supporting my new EP. The person responsible for booking us, is my good friend at NPR Ashley Pointer. I first met Ashley during one of my performances at Berklee College of music in 2019 when she was just a music student. We stayed in touch for years and eventually when she got the gig at NPR she reached out about booking us and everything aligned!

Lyrics: (Ahhh)

We’ll get it back

Just wait and see

The future’s so bright

Can hardly see

You said you’d always be there for me

My everything My everything

Ahh

(Will you be my everything)

Ahh

(Will you be my everything)

Ahh Ahh

My everything My everything

Verse:

A few times you’d see me. Second guess everything. I can’t believe I'm sleeping. Wake me up from this deep dream.

Slipping into the deep end. I’ve become someone different. I'm distant, flippant. Where have I been?

But all I wanna know, those times I drift away

Despite all my mistakes, Will you be my home base?

And all I wanna know

Will you be by my side? This time This time (Yeah)

Chorus:

We’ll get it back

Just wait and see

The future’s so bright

Can hardly see

You said you’d always be there for me

My everything My everything

Ahhh Ahhh Ahhh
