This song “We’ve Come So Far” is a song that I wrote in the pandemic. In the summer of 2020 I moved from NYC to LA and one of my first sessions (while masked up) was at my friend Austin Brown’s house. He opened a folder of beats and this one just stuck out to me. I remember loving the dryness of the guitar and the simplicity of the harmony. It had a familiarity and nostalgic quality to it that made me want to reflect on where I was in life, how I’m feeling about the state of the world and where things are going. Interestingly enough even 5 years later the lyrics and energy of this song is just as relevant now as it was then. Because the truth is, there will always be difficult times, injustice, violence, sadness and pain in the world. But simultaneously there will be love, family, joy, music and moments of peace as well. It ultimately comes down to what we are able to focus our minds on. I chose to write a song about my desire to focus on the positive and to remember that things will be “alright.” This song is about taking stock on how far I’ve come in life and the blessings in my life despite the difficulties and trials that I have to face. Gratitude is the key. “We’ve Come So Far” is a call to action. A call to center oneself and focus on what we are grateful for in life. I urge everyone reading this to do the same.
